Syed Atik, Gazipur: A colorful seasonal fruit festival was organized by Global Kids School, an institution dedicated to educating underprivileged and street children, in Tongi on Friday. The event also marked World Day Against Child Labour with a special discussion aimed at promoting children`s rights and education.
The unique and joyful program was held in the open-air premises of the school near Tongi Railway Station. Speakers at the event emphasized the importance of bringing disadvantaged children into the mainstream of society and equipping them to face the challenges of the 21st century through education.
The program was presided over by Mahbubur Rahman Jilani, Founder Director of Global Kids School, and jointly conducted by Director Mohammad Shamim Reza. The chief guest was Nazmul Hossain Mondol, Joint Convener of Gazipur Metropolitan Jubo Dal, Member Secretary of Tongi East Thana Jubo Dal, and a candidate for Councillor of Ward No. 43.
Among the special guests were Kalimullah Iqbal, General Secretary of the central committee of the Society of National Media Commission; senior journalist and District Editor of the national daily Nawroz, Md. Munsur Ahmed; Md. Abdul Khaleq, Founding President of Ward No. 46 Jubo Dal and Councillor candidate; Md. Shahin Ahmed Rizvi, Jubo Dal leader and Councillor candidate of Ward No. 46; local journalists Md. Arif Chowdhury and Md. Nuruzzaman Sheikh, among others.
Addressing the gathering, speakers said that today’s children are the future leaders of the nation and stressed that no child should be trapped in the cycle of labour. They underscored society’s responsibility to protect the rights of disadvantaged children and ensure access to quality education. The speakers highly praised the humanitarian efforts of Global Kids School and called upon affluent members of society to extend their support to such initiatives.
Following the discussion, seasonal fruits including mangoes, jackfruits, and litchis were distributed among the children. The festival brought smiles and excitement to the faces of the underprivileged students who participated in the celebration.
Teachers, guardians, community leaders, and local residents were also present at the event, making it a memorable occasion for the children and a meaningful platform for raising awareness about child welfare and education.
