Our correspondent: The 2026-2027 Teachers` Council elections of Cox`s Bazar Government College were held on Tuesday (June 23) at the college`s teachers` auditorium.
In this election, Mitun Chakraborty, assistant professor and head of the English department, was elected as the editor. His opponent was Kazi Abul Kashem, associate professor of the Zoology department.
Assistant Professor Maung Thuen Aye of the Department of Accounting was elected as the joint editor. His opponent was Imranul Haque, a lecturer in the Department of Accounting.
Mohammad Harunur Rashid, a lecturer in the Department of Chemistry, was elected as the Finance Secretary. His rival was Jannatun Naeem, a lecturer in the Department of Management.In this election, 50 out of 54 teachers working in the college voted.
The college`s Vice-Principal Professor Md. Ahidul Islam was the Election Commissioner.
Newly elected secretary Mitun Chakraborty said, "Under the guidance of the college principal and vice-principal, I will fulfill my responsibilities with honesty and equality for the welfare of the teachers and students of the college in the coming days."
I will try to uphold the trust and confidence they have placed in me. For this, I seek the sincere cooperation of all teachers and staff.
Cox`s Bazar Government College Principal Professor Abul Hasnat Md. Mofizul Haque said, "Congratulations to the elected teachers. I hope that the elected ones will work voluntarily for the welfare of the teachers, staff and students of the college. I wish the newly elected Teachers` Council success."
