Rain likely across Bangladesh
  Date : 30-06-2026

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) predicted that light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty winds and lightning are likely to occur across the country over the next five days.

BMD said this in its 120-hour forecast on Tuesday morning.

According to the regular bulletin issued by the weather office, the trough of low pressure lies over Gangetic West Bengal to the Northwest Bay. Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate elsewhere over the North Bay.

For the first 24 hours starting from 9:00 am Tuesday, light to moderate rain or thundershowers are expected at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, and Chattogram divisions, and at a few places over Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions. Moderately heavy to heavy falls may also occur at isolated places over the country.

During this period, both day and night temperatures may drop slightly across the country. In the capital, the wind was blowing from the South/South-East direction at a speed of 08"12 km/h on Tuesday morning, with relative humidity recorded at 89 per cent, reports UNB.

On the second day (Wednesday), rain or thundershowers are likely at many places over Rajshahi, Rangpur, Mymensingh, Chattogram, and Sylhet divisions, and at a few places over Dhaka,
Khulna, and Barishal divisions, with day and night temperatures remaining nearly unchanged.

The bulletin further noted that while day and night temperatures may rise slightly on Thursday, the overall rainy trend is expected to persist across all divisions through Friday and Saturday.
In its extended outlook for the subsequent five days, the meteorological department predicted that the trend of rainfall activity is likely to increase further.

Meanwhile, Bogura recorded the highest rainfall of 68 mm in the country during the 24 hours ending at 6:00 am Tuesday, while the highest temperature on Monday was recorded at 36.0 degrees Celsius in Sylhet.
