| Diplomatic Desk: The High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to Bangladesh, His Excellency Haji Haris bin Othman, has praised the warmth and hospitality of the people of Bogura, saying that meaningful engagement with local communities is essential to strengthening the longstanding friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Bangladesh. Speaking during his visit to Bogura, the envoy said that understanding a country extends far beyond its capital, emphasizing that "the best way to know a country is through the hearts of its people." He described the visit as an opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of Bangladesh`s rich history, vibrant culture, and the resilience of its communities. Responding to questions from participants, Haji Haris said he had been consistently impressed by the kindness, generosity and hospitality of the Bangladeshi people throughout his years of service in the country. He noted that these qualities closely mirror the core values of Brunei Darussalam, where peace, moderation, mutual respect, and strong family and community bonds are deeply rooted in society. Highlighting the importance of travelling beyond the capital, the High Commissioner said interactions with local communities help foster stronger people-to-people connections, which serve as a vital foundation for enduring bilateral relations. He stressed that lasting friendships between nations are built not only through official diplomacy but also through trust, mutual understanding and genuine human relationships. The Brunei envoy also expressed admiration for Bogura`s rich historical and cultural heritage, describing the district as an important contributor to Bangladesh`s civilisation and history. Such visits, he said, provide valuable opportunities to learn from local communities while promoting greater mutual understanding between the two friendly nations. Concluding his visit, Haji Haris conveyed his heartfelt appreciation to the organisers and hosts for their generous hospitality. He wished the people of Bogura continued prosperity and reaffirmed his hope that the longstanding friendship between Brunei Darussalam and Bangladesh would grow even stronger in the years ahead.
