Diplomatic Correspondent: The Honorary Consulate of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Bangladesh will host a reception in Dhaka on Friday, September 18, to celebrate the Caribbean nation`s Independence Day.

Honorary Consul Tanveer Ahmed and Mrs Nichaphut Sakuntanu will host the reception, which is expected to bring together members of the diplomatic and consular corps in Dhaka, including ambassadors, high commissioners and honorary consuls.

Senior representatives from the Bangladesh government, business community, media and other sectors of society will also attend the programme, according to a press release.

The reception will mark the national day of Saint Kitts and Nevis while providing an opportunity for members of the diplomatic community and distinguished guests to strengthen ties and exchange views in a spirit of friendship, goodwill and mutual respect.

Saint Kitts and Nevis, an independent twin-island federation in the Caribbean, has been expanding its international engagement and relations with countries around the world.

The Independence Day reception in Dhaka is expected to highlight the growing importance of people-to-people and institutional connections between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Bangladesh. It will also provide an avenue for greater understanding and dialogue between the two countries and their respective communities.

The event will bring together representatives of the diplomatic, governmental and private sectors, offering them an opportunity to interact and exchange views in a cordial atmosphere of international friendship.

Saint Kitts and Nevis became an independent nation on September 19, 1983, and Independence Day is observed annually to commemorate the country`s sovereignty.
