Saint Kitts and Nevis marks Independence Day with diplomatic reception in Dhaka

MM Rahmatullah: The Honorary Consulate of the Federation of Saint Kitts and Nevis in Bangladesh hosted a diplomatic reception in Dhaka on Friday evening to celebrate the Caribbean nation`s Independence Day, bringing together members of the diplomatic community and distinguished representatives from various sectors of Bangladeshi society.

The reception, hosted by Honorary Consul Tanveer Ahmed and Mrs Nichaphut Sakuntanu, was held at The Westin Dhaka.

A large number of distinguished guests, including ambassadors, high commissioners, honorary consuls, senior government officials, business leaders, media professionals and other prominent personalities, attended the event.

The evening was marked by a warm and cordial atmosphere as guests joined the celebration of the independence of Saint Kitts and Nevis, while also highlighting the importance of friendship, international cooperation and people-to-people ties.

The reception also provided an opportunity for members of the diplomatic and consular corps and other guests to exchange views and strengthen professional and personal relations.

Speaking on the occasion, Honorary Consul Tanveer Ahmed stressed the importance of further strengthening relations between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Bangladesh through greater diplomatic engagement and cooperation.

He highlighted the potential for expanding ties in areas including trade and investment, tourism, cultural exchange and people-to-people connectivity.

The celebration also reflected the Honorary Consulate`s efforts to promote greater understanding and meaningful engagement between the two countries.

Saint Kitts and Nevis, a twin-island nation in the Caribbean, has been engaging with countries around the world through diplomatic, economic and cultural partnerships. The Independence Day celebration in Dhaka provided a platform to showcase the country`s national heritage and strengthen the bonds of friendship with Bangladesh.

The Honorary Consulate expressed gratitude to members of the diplomatic and consular corps, government representatives, business leaders, media professionals and other distinguished guests for attending the reception and contributing to its significance.

The commemorative event concluded in a spirit of friendship, goodwill and international solidarity, underscoring the shared interest in developing closer ties between Saint Kitts and Nevis and Bangladesh.
