Mijan Akanda, Phulpur (Mymensingh): A new 27-member committee of the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad’s Phulpur upazila unit has been formed with BNP leader Sufia Khanam as president and teacher Nahid Nigar Sultana as general secretary.
Rashida Akter has been elected organisational secretary of the new committee.
The committee was announced by consensus at the fifth triennial conference of the Bangladesh Mahila Parishad, Phulpur upazila branch, held at the hall room of Phulpur Pilot Girls’ High School on Saturday afternoon.
Bangladesh Mahila Parishad Central Committee Vice-President Ferdous Ara Helen attended the conference as the chief guest.
Mymensingh District Committee Organising Secretary Elina Zaman Khanam and Education and Cultural Affairs Secretary Shampa Sarkar were present as special guests.
At the end of the conference, the guests welcomed the newly elected committee members and leaders with flowers.
They also urged the new committee to work collectively to protect women’s rights and contribute to social development in the area.
The formation of the new committee is expected to further strengthen the organisation’s activities in promoting women’s rights and addressing social issues in Phulpur.
