Moin Mahmoodd: An orientation program was held for students admitted to the Fall 2026 semester at BRAC University. On September 30, University Vice-Chancellor Professor Syed Ferhat Anwar welcomed the students at a ceremony held at the university`s Merul Badda campus. Addressing the gathering, he said, "Now, you must decide how you wish to contribute to the world. For every journey in life shapes a person into someone unique."

He added, "BRAC reaches out to people and works for them—that is the philosophy of BRAC."
Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Arshad Mahmud Chowdhury urged the students to remain honest and bring about positive change in society.
Treasurer Ariful Islam stated, "To enhance opportunities for students to gain work experience, BRAC University is introducing campus-based part-time job opportunities starting this semester."
Registrar Dr. David Dowland said, "A Master`s program in Medical Physics is being launched at BRAC University this semester, which will create a promising professional field for students."
During the event, six students received special recognition for their outstanding achievements in various fields.
Among the recipients was Md. Akheruzzaman, a third-semester student from the Department of Pharmacy. He secured second place in the poster presentation competition at the Dubai International Pharmaceuticals and Technologies Conference and Exhibition 2026 by presenting an AI-based prescription verification technology.
Navid Rahman, a seventh-semester student from the Department of Computer Science, emerged as the champion of the Bangladesh Sports Olympiad 2026. This competition is a tournament based on sports-related knowledge and analysis. The other students honored were Md. Shahriar Hossain, Tajwar Ahmed, Shadid Al Akib, and Rafin Md. Abrar—final-year students from the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering. They are members of ‘Team Scavenger.’ The team emerged as champions at ‘RobotFest 2026,’ organized by East West University, by showcasing a four-legged robotic system they developed, capable of monitoring hazardous environments.
The orientation program concluded with a concert by the popular band ‘Blue Jeans.’ Tahsina Rahman, Head of Student Life, delivered the welcome address at the event.
This event highlights BRAC University’s ongoing efforts to implement the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG-4 (Quality Education) and SDG-10 (Reduced Inequalities).
