Online Desk: The Nations Development Organisation (NDO) has organised an awareness campaign to promote dengue prevention, encourage cleanliness and urge people to eliminate mosquito breeding grounds.
NDO Chairperson Md Jahir Uddin Babur said public welfare and social awareness were among the organisation’s key objectives, stressing that everyone must play a responsible role in reducing the risk of dengue.
“Dengue can be prevented collectively by keeping stagnant water around homes clean, destroying mosquito breeding grounds and raising awareness among others,” he said.
The campaign was attended by NDO advisory members Lecturer Md Sharif Hossain, Advocate Ziaur Rahman and Mir Simon Rabby, along with members Md Zakir Hossain, Md Imran Bin Alam, Md Rashedul Islam and Md Shuvo, as well as other members, volunteers and local residents.
Speakers, including Advocate Ziaur Rahman and Ismail Hossain Siraji, highlighted the importance of personal awareness, maintaining a clean environment and taking collective action to prevent dengue.
The campaign emphasised regularly removing stagnant water from around homes, rooftops, balconies and other places where mosquitoes can breed. Participants also urged people to protect themselves from mosquito bites and seek medical advice promptly if they develop a fever.
NDO Vice-Chairperson Md Kharul Islam (Riyad) oversaw the campaign.
The organisation said public awareness and collective action were essential to building a healthy, safe and liveable society. It stressed that families, neighbours and local communities must work together alongside individual efforts to prevent dengue.
NDO carries out various public welfare initiatives aimed at bringing positive social change through education, healthcare, environmental conservation, human rights protection and community development.
