Chinese Premier Li Qiang attended the 25th Meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of Member States of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, on Tuesday (October 20).
Addressing the gathering, Premier Li recalled that Chinese President Xi Jinping underscored at the Bishkek Summit that at a critical juncture shaping the future of humanity, the SCO must courageously shoulder its historic mission and actively steer the course of history.
Premier Li stated that to achieve this objective, member states must forge broader consensus on policy matters while taking concrete and pragmatic actions anchored in forward-looking thinking, a global perspective, and firm resolve. He noted that such concerted efforts will enhance the organization`s governance efficacy, drive high-quality development, advance the implementation of the four global initiatives proposed by President Xi Jinping, and contribute to building a community with a shared future for mankind.
The Premier added that notwithstanding the divergent demands among nations, member states must identify common ground, jointly safeguard global peace and stability, respect cultural diversity, and champion harmonious coexistence.
Representatives of participating nations noted that over the past 25 years, the SCO has grown steadily stronger and increasingly influential.
They emphasized the vital importance of actively implementing the decisions and outcomes reached at the Tianjin and Bishkek summits, carrying forward the "Shanghai Spirit," and delivering even greater contributions to regional and global peace and development.
