Govt in search of a CEC like Nurul Huda: Rizvi
  Date : 19-09-2021

Online Report : BNP senior joint secretary general Ruhul Kabir Rizvi has alleged that the government is looking for chief election commissioner (CEC) like KM Nurul Huda for the upcoming parliamentary elections.

He made the remarks at a discussion held at National Press Club in Dhaka on Sunday morning. ‘Ganatantrik Forum’ organized the programme titled ‘Role of independent election commission and non-partisan neutral government’.

Rizvi said, “The term of this election commission is going to end in February. As per the remarks of the ministers, it is understood that they are again looking for subservient people like CEC Nurul Huda to hold elections without voting and at night.”

A non-partisan government is needed for holding a free, fair and neutral parliamentary election, said Rizvi.

The BNP leader called upon all nationalist forces to take to the streets for this demand.

“The government is intimidating journalists by seeking their bank accounts as the next parliamentary elections approached. They have used state weapons through Bangladesh Bank to intimidate journalists,” Rizvi said.
