Two drown in Kurigram river

Two children drowned in the Buri Teesta River at Ulipur upazila of Kurigram district on Friday.

The incident took place around 1.30pm at Bagchir Khamar Indararpar area of Dhamshreni union in the upazila.

The deceased Meem, was daughter of Monnaf Mia, and Hasi, 9, of Habibur Rahman from the same area.

Citing locals, police sources said that the duo went to bathe with their grandmother in the afternoon. At that time, they both went missing and drowned.
Later, locals rushed to the grandmother`s scream and found their bodies were floating some distance away from the scene.

Ulipur Police Station sub-inspector Golok Chandra Barmon confirmed the deaths.
