3 killed, 20 injured in gas cylinder blast at Laxmipur filling station

Three people were burnt to death and at least 20 injured after a gas cylinder of a bus exploded while refueling at a station at Sadar upazila of Laxmipur early Monday.

The deceased were identified as Suman Hossain, son of Batu Miah; Md Yusuf Mia and his brother Hridoy Hossain, sons of Suja Miah.

Eyewitnesses said that the explosion occurred around 2AM at Green Life Filling Station at Muktiganj area when a bus belonging to `Meghna Paribahan` was refueling. Three people died on the spot and 20 others injured.

Of the injured, 10 were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) sa their condition are critical.

Getting information, two units of Fire Service and police went to the spot and recovered the bodies and rescued the injured.

Laxmipur Fire Service station officer Ranjit Kumar informed that the cylinder of the bus was of substandard quality, which led to the explosion.

Of the injured, some lost legs, some hands and some were admitted with severe burn injuries, said Sadar Hospital on-duty doctor Jaynal Abedin.
