Sarjis Alam, the chief organizer of the National Citizens` Party (NCP) for the northern region, has extended Eid greetings to the nation, celebrating in what he calls a fascist-free new Bangladesh following the anti-autocracy movement. "Eid Mubarak," he declared.
He made this statement on Monday (March 31) after performing Eid prayers at the Panchagarh Central Eidgah ground.
Addressing the gathering, Sarjis Alam expressed concern for oppressed Muslim communities worldwide, stating, "Many of our Muslim brothers and sisters across the globe cannot celebrate Eid as we do. In India, certain extremist Hindutva groups continue to oppress our fellow Muslims."
He also highlighted the plight of persecuted Muslims in Palestine, the Middle East, and Myanmar, adding, "We must pray for all Muslims and humanity as a whole, so that we can rise above our divisions, work for the betterment of people, and contribute to the progress of our nation. In this brief life, let us strive to do good so that we may attain peace in both this world and the hereafter."
Emphasizing the spiritual significance of Ramadan, he remarked, "The essence of Ramadan is to develop Taqwa (piety) and refrain from negativity. Just as we have obligations toward Allah, we also have responsibilities toward our fellow human beings. We have to uphold these rights in every aspect of life."
Earlier in the day, Sarjis Alam traveled from his hometown in Atwari Upazila to the district`s central Eidgah ground. After the prayer, he exchanged warm greetings and embraced fellow worshippers.
