15 injured in Meherpur BNP factional clash

Online Report : At least 15 people were injured in a factional clash between two groups of Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) over holding the party`s council under sadar upazila in Meherpur district on Friday.

The clash incident took place at Amjhupi union in the upazila.

Among the injured were Monowarul Hossain Chanchal, Azimul Bari Lavlu, Kazi Mizan Menon.

According to locals, sporadic clash incidents were taken place centering the council. A clash incident took place when the supporters of Meherpur Sadar BNP former general secretary Shaiful Islam and his brother Shofiqul Islam carried out an attack with lethal weapons during the council. That left at least 15 people were injured.

Being informed, police and Army officials rushed to the scene and brought the situation under control, said Meherpur Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Mesbah Uddin said.

Additional law enforcement agencies were deployed in the area to avert any kind of untoward situation.
