Gen-Z must recognize Mir Jafars and Lhendup Dorjis of our time: Barrister Fuaad in a Public meeting in Sherajgonj
  Date : 24-05-2025

Sirajganj Correspondent: The AB Party (Amar Bangladesh Party) has strongly stated that Professor Muhammad Yunus and the interim government must not step down amid the current political pressure. The party emphasized that disruptive elements are intentionally creating unrest across the country to destabilize the interim government. Instead of resigning, all stakeholders must engage in dialogue to reach a constructive and consensus-based resolution.

Speaking at a public meeting and joining ceremony organized by the Shahjadpur Upazila, a subdistrict in Sherajgonj district, unit of AB Party on Friday afternoon. AB Party General Secretary and a barrister-at-law, Asaduzzaman Fuaad, warned that the interim government must implement its mandate—reform, justice, and fair elections. If the monsoon uprising of 2024 fails, the political and top leadership of armed forces must bear the responsibility for posterity. Anowar Sadat Tutul, a Joint General Secretary of the AB Party, also spoke at the event as special guest.

In his keynote address, Barrister Fuaad said that many political leaders are prioritizing personal interests over national interests. He urged Generation-Z and young citizens to recognize today’s equivalent of Mir Jafars and Lhendup Dorjis of the time —those who compromise national interests to elevate themselves.

He further demanded the formation of a Truth and Reconciliation Commission to address injustices surrounding the 2009 BDR Mutiny, where 57 armed forces officers were brutally killed and thousands of innocent Border Guards were imprisoned, falsely accused, and denied state benefits.

On local development, Fuaad highlighted Shahjadpur’s significance as a commercial hub in northern Bangladesh. He announced AB Party’s intent to nominate Anwar Sadat Tutul as its parliamentary candidate from Shahjadpur and called for public support to build Shahjadpur into a modern development model. He emphasized modernizing the traditional weaving industry by integrating the 500,000 weavers into the national garment supply chain to reduce textile fabrics imports. He also proposed developing a tourism industry around the Jamuna and Korotoa rivers to create employment for thousands of youths.

Anwar Sadat Tutul noted that Shahjadpur had once produced a Deputy Prime Minister, yet local leaders have misused power and amassed wealth. He said it is now time to demand essential development. despite its location on the river, Shahjadpur’s municipality lacks basic services and infrastructure. He called for responsible use of local resources such as weaving, rivers, and fisheries to transform the town into a thriving urban center.
