A typhoid vaccination campaign was officially launched in Feni on Sunday (October 12) morning at the premises of Feni Shishu Niketan Collectorate School.
Golam Md Baten, deputy director of the Local Government Department in Feni, inaugurated the campaign by releasing balloons. According to the health department, a total of 425,437 children in the district will receive the typhoid vaccine.
Civil Surgeon Dr. Mohammad Rubaiyat Bin Karim said the campaign will provide a single dose of Typhoid Conjugate Vaccine (TCV) to children aged 9 months to 15 years, from Sunday onwards, every working day between 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. The vaccination program will continue until November 13, covering 1,105 centers across the district with support from the health department and partner organizations. Registration for vaccination is ongoing through vax.epi.gov.bd.
The event was presided over by Civil Surgeon Dr. Rubaiyat Bin Karim. Special guests included Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Ismail Hossain, Deputy Director of Family Planning Mostafizur Rahman Chowdhury, Deputy Director of Islamic Foundation Feni Nazmus Saqib, Superintendent of Feni 250-bed General Hospital Dr. Mahi Uddin Ahmed, and Additional Superintendent of Police Saiful Islam.
Among others who spoke at the event were Nasrin Sultana Kanta, UNO of Sadar Upazila; Dr. Saiful Islam, Upazila Family Planning Officer; Kamarun Nahar, Secondary Education Supervisor; Md. Shamsuddin, Executive Officer of Feni Municipality; Dr. Krishnapada Saha, Medical Officer; and Md. Yasin Arafat, Head Teacher of Feni Shishu Niketan Collectorate School.
