Saifullah Md. Khalid Russell, Narayanganj : Since joining Siddhirganj DPDC, Siddhirganj DPDC Executive Engineer Amit Adhikari has become the kingpin of irregularities and corruption. The people of Siddhirganj have become helpless due to rampant corruption. Amit Adhikari used to act recklessly without caring about anything. He used to misbehave with customers. The people of Siddhirganj have expressed satisfaction over his expulsion. The locals said that when they went to Siddhirganj DPDC Executive Engineer Amit Adhikari for various problems, he would harass them instead of cooperating. He would offer bribes through the brokers he employed. They have never seen such an officer in this electricity office before. They also said that since Amit Adhikari joined, there has been a huge deterioration in electricity. The ACC raided Siddhirganj DPDC regarding corruption. Despite being successfully saved from the ACC, his corruption continued.
Due to his irresponsibility, a few days ago, one person died on the spot and two were injured while doing electrical work in front of Adamjee Moonlight Hall. We demand justice for Amit Adhikari. We also seek the intervention of the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) regarding this official`s corruption.
Due to negligence of duty, Dhaka Power Distribution Company Limited (DPDC) Siddhirganj NOCS office executive engineer Amit Adhikari and deputy assistant engineer Abdur Rahman Sohag have been temporarily suspended.
DPDC assistant engineer Rahul and several officials confirmed that they were withdrawn from the Siddhirganj office on December 3 and attached to the DPDC head office. At the same time, Ahsanuzzaman, executive engineer of Demra NOCS office, has been appointed to Siddhirganj as additional responsibility.
It is worth noting that this disciplinary action was taken against them on the basis of allegations of negligence in the performance of duties, irregularities and corruption in the incident of one worker dying and two others being injured due to electrocution during maintenance work on an electrical transformer in the Adamjee Moonlight Hall area of Adamjee EPZ on the morning of November 26.
