International Desk: The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) has expressed deep concern over the recent unrest in Iran. The organization conveyed its heartfelt sympathy to the Iranian government and people, calling for a peaceful resolution to the crisis.
According to the SCO, recent events in Iran have resulted in casualties among both civilians and law enforcement personnel, while significant civilian infrastructure has been damaged. Unilateral sanctions have also severely impacted Iran’s economic stability, harming the population and placing the country’s economy in jeopardy.
The SCO further emphasized its opposition to external interference in Iran’s internal affairs and urged all parties to respect the sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity of all nations. The organization condemned the use of force or threats in international relations and called on all relevant stakeholders to seek political and diplomatic solutions to the crisis.
