‘Jamaat wants to turn Bangladesh into a state like Afghanistan’
  Date : 02-02-2026

BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has said that Jamaat-e-Islami does not want Bangladesh to move forward and aims to turn the country into a state like Afghanistan.

He made the remarks on Monday (February 2) while conducting door-to-door campaigning in his constituency in Thakurgaon.

Mirza Fakhrul said Jamaat does not want women to work and wants girls to remain confined to their homes.

Referring to a recent post from the Jamaat amir’s X (formerly Twitter) account, he said that if the amir had made such misogynistic remarks, it was unjust.

He further said that an opportunity has now emerged to build a justice-based state in the country. The BNP wants a fair and acceptable electoral environment involving all political parties and is working toward that goal.

Addressing voters, he said the country is now in their hands and urged them not to make mistakes while taking decisions.
