Khelafat Majlish Protests Fuel and Electricity Price Hike in Dhaka

Special Correspondent: Khelafat Majlish Dhaka Metropolitan North organized a rally and protest march in the capital today afternoon against the government’s decision to increase fuel and electricity prices.

Presided over by Professor Maulana Saif Uddin Ahmed Khondkar, President of Khelafat Majlish Dhaka Metropolitan North, the rally was held in front of Uttara Rajuk College. Shahabuddin Ahmed Khondkar, Central Assistant Organizing Secretary, attended as chief guest.

Speakers at the rally demanded the government revoke the fuel and electricity price hike without delay. They warned that if the decision is not reversed, ordinary citizens will be forced to take to the streets out of necessity for survival.

Leaders also expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation. They said incidents of murder, rape, extortion and terrorism are increasing daily, while the government’s high-ups are not taking any action.

The speakers further stated that any attempt by Indian nationals to push in across the border into Bangladesh will not be accepted under any circumstances.

The rally was conducted by Maulana Azizul Haque, General Secretary of Dhaka Metropolitan North. Other speakers included Enamul Haque Hasan, Joint General Secretary of Metropolitan North; Dr. Maulana Mahmudul Hasan Kibria, Training Secretary; Engineer Motiur Rahman, President of Sromik Majlish Dhaka Metropolitan North; and Md. Salman, Central Office Secretary of Jubo Majlish.

After the rally, a protest march began from Uttara Rajuk College and paraded through Azampur Main Road and surrounding areas.
