Intern doctors at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) are continuing the work stoppage for the second consecutive day, creating stalemate at the hospital as service is not as fast as the doctors are not on-duty.
A human chain demonstration and protest programme have been held on the campus at 11:30AM on Monday.
The strike, organised under the banner of the CMCH Intern Doctors Association, started at 8AM. Trainee doctors, who have been on strike since the morning hours, have also joined the work stoppage.
Regular students of Chattogram Medical College (CMC) also boycotted all classes, in solidarity with the interns.
The interns claimed that although authorities had earlier assured progress on one of their six demands, no visible steps have been taken on the remaining issues, prompting widespread dissatisfaction.
Protesters said the movement was triggered by recent directives issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare regarding FCPS training.
