  Date : 30-09-2026

Desk Report: Pakistan and Bangladesh have agreed to strengthen institutional links between Daffodil International University (DIU) and leading Pakistani universities, with a particular focus on information technology, artificial intelligence, robotics and solar technology.

Pakistan High Commissioner to Bangladesh Imran Haider made the commitment during his visit to DIU in Dhaka, where he met Vice Chancellor Prof Dr M R Kabir.

During the meeting, the High Commissioner congratulated the Vice Chancellor on DIU’s notable achievements in various international university rankings.

Prof Dr Kabir, recalling his visit to Pakistan, appreciated the quality and diversity of higher education offered by Pakistani universities, particularly in science and technology.

He said there was significant scope for greater cooperation between academic institutions of Bangladesh and Pakistan.

High Commissioner Imran Haider reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to promoting educational cooperation with Bangladesh. He briefed the DIU Vice Chancellor on various initiatives being undertaken under the Pakistan-Bangladesh Knowledge Corridor.

The two sides agreed to work towards establishing stronger institutional partnerships between DIU and leading Pakistani universities through joint research as well as faculty and student exchange programmes.

The proposed cooperation will particularly cover emerging and technology-driven areas, including IT, AI, robotics and solar technology, reflecting the growing importance of science and innovation in higher education.

The High Commissioner and the Vice Chancellor later visited various departments and facilities of the university.

The visit comes amid broader efforts to expand people-to-people and educational exchanges between Bangladesh and Pakistan, with higher education increasingly emerging as an important area of bilateral cooperation.
