BNP leader`s body found under bridge in Teknaf

Police have recovered the body of a BNP leader under a bridge of Cox`s Bazar`s Teknaf upazila.

Local residents spotted the body around 9AM on Wednesday near Rongikhali road area and informed the police.

Deceased Md Yunus Sikder, 45, was a former UP member of Ward No. 1, Sabrang Union, and convener of Arafat Rahman Koko Sports Council.

According to police and family members, Yunus went to the house of organation`s general secretary on Tuesday night.

Teknaf Model Police Station OC Abu Jayed said, ``Locals spotted the body in a floating condition under the bridge. Later, they identified him as Yunus Sikder. Police sent it to Cox`s Bazar Sadar Hospital morgue.

The family and political leaders said that Yunus might have been killed over lent money. The body bore several injury marks, the OC added.
