DU Correspondent: Dhaka University Friends Forum (DUFF) 1996-97 batch has organized the much-awaited "Pitha Festival and Cultural Evening 2025" in the capital. This colorful event was held on Friday, December 12, from 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the central sports ground of Dhaka University, focusing on the winter atmosphere.
The organizing committee said that this festival is not just an entertainment event; rather, the event has been organized keeping in mind the three goals of reunion of batch members, strengthening family ties and presenting the country`s folk culture to the new generation.
The Pitha Festival and Cultural Evening event included a day-long folk song, dance and folk cultural performance by the city show `Tin Bon`. There were special interesting events for children, a rich arrangement of various types of traditional winter Pitha, and dinner for friends and their families. According to the organizers, this festival will revive the spirit of friendship, teamwork and unity that is the culture of Dhaka University.
It is worth noting that in 2016, a few friends formed a friendship platform called `DUFF 1996-97` at the Hakim Chattar of Dhaka University. Currently, the number of members of that platform has exceeded a thousand. Since the beginning, the executive members and coordinators of the batch have been organizing various social and cultural activities.
The Pitha Festival was organized by DUFF President Mohammad Iqbal Mahmud Bablu, General Secretary Ferdous Munna, Convener of Pitha Festival and Cultural Evening Rashidul Alamin and Member Secretary Nadir Shah Himu.
Apart from this, other members of the Pitha Festival 2025 Organizing Committee and friends from different departments worked at the field level to make the event a success.
Students from various faculties, departments and institutes of DUFF batch 1996-97 said that this gathering was memorable and joyful with the participation of their Batch mates after a long time. The event was very festive and lively with the participation of about 1200 members of the batch, including classmates and their families. The participants` friends thanked all the organizing committee of DUFF for successfully organizing the Pitha festival.
The event concluded with a cultural evening, dinner and a raffle draw.
