  Date : 22-01-2026

Barisal Correspondent: The scale symbol, represented by Jamaat-e-Islami, has received overwhelming support in Mehediganj, Barisal, on the first day of campaigning for the upcoming national election.

On Thursday, party candidates and supporters took to the streets, engaging with voters at markets, roads, and public places. They held rallies and door-to-door campaigns, culminating in a gathering at Patahat Bazar in the evening.

Locals expressed their support for the scale symbol, exchanging warm words with the candidate and expressing hopes for development, good governance, and justice in the area.

Party leaders said the people of Mehediganj are seeking change and that the scale symbol represents a strong message against past discrimination, corruption, and neglect.

Jamaat-e-Islami`s Barisal district chief and candidate for Barisal-4, Professor Mawlana Abdul Jabbar, said, "If elected, my primary goal will be to ensure the rights, development, and peace of Mehediganj`s people. This love and support from the people inspires me anew."

The campaign was attended by local leaders, including Jamaat-e-Islami`s district committee member and freedom fighter Alhaj M. SaifurRahman, and Mehediganjupazila chief MawlanaShahidul Islam.

Local analysts believe the enthusiastic response on the first day of campaigning bodes well for the scale symbol`s prospects in the election.
