DU Correspondent: A protest rally was held at the Raju Sculpture of Dhaka University on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, at 11 am, against the derogatory and indecent remarks made by Md. Shamim Ahsan, Assistant Secretary of Barguna District Jamaat-e-Islami, targeting Dhaka University`s Central Students` Union (DUCSU) and female students.

The rally, organized by the Karzonian platform, condemned the Jamaat leader`s misogynistic statement and demanded that he be brought to justice and punished exemplary. The rally also strongly criticized DUCSU for not protesting against the statement.

Speakers at the rally included Professor Dr. Ferdousi Begum (Rina), Rafiqul Islam Jewel, Ahmad Kamrul Millat Kabir, Kazi Nasrin Siddika, Mamun Morshed Raju, Dr. Arif, Zahir Didar, and Waliullah Babu, among others. The rally called for social resistance against such religious-political parties.
