Human chain held in Gazipur on International Clean Energy Day
  Date : 26-01-2026
Syed Atik, Gazipur: A human chain was held in Gazipur to celebrate International Clean Energy Day 2026, organized by Sacon, Gazipur, inspired by Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB). The event took place on Monday (January 26) morning at the road adjacent to Bhawal Rajbari field.

The human chain aimed to raise awareness about reducing dependence on fossil fuels and increasing production and use of renewable energy to combat climate change and achieve SDGs. Participants included Sacon, Youth Engagement and Support Group (YES), Active Citizens Group (ACG) members, and over a hundred citizens from various social organizations.

Sacon President Jobeda Akhtar welcomed the event, and TIB`s concept paper on International Clean Energy Day 2026 was presented. Sacon Vice President Syed Mohammad Shekanul Islam Shahi presented TIB`s demands. Speakers included YES Co-Leader Sudipta Chakraborty Joy and Sacon Vice President Chitra Saha.

The event was attended by Jimmy Parveen, Shiwli Akhtar, and Noor Mohammad Rakib, among others. Notably, TIB initiated the celebration of International Clean Energy Day in Bangladesh last year to raise awareness about transitioning to renewable energy.
