 | MA Mannan, Bhola: It has been alleged that Selim Ahmed Liton, a lecturer in the history department of Bir Shrestha Mustafa Kamal College under Bhola Sadar Upazila, was assaulted by the college`s lecturer of English, Maksudur Rahman Tuhin. Victim Selim Ahmed Liton said that on Thursday, October 30, Maksudur Rahman Tuhin, lecturer of the English department assaulted me in front of his colleagues. Selim Ahmed Leton is a son of Bir Shrestha Mustafa Kamal`s elder brother and the family residence of Bir Shrestha Mustafa Kamal is at Alinagar Union of Bhola district. Bir Shrestha Mostafa Kamal College has been built here in his memory. As said by Selim Ahmed, "I was the former acting principal of the college and had legally challenged the management. I was allegedly attacked and assaulted by lecturer Maksudur Rahman Tuhin and his brother Mufijur Rehman and their associates." During the Awami League government, Selim Ahmed Liton was given the charge of acting principal of the college. It was during his period that the college was included in the MPO. After the July Uprising, a new acting principal took charge. Immediately after this, he alleged that some teachers of the college were involved in a conspiracy against Selim Ahmed. The accused Masudur Rahman was an Awami League leader in the past, but he changed his mind after the change of politics. Selim Ahmed also said that in the past, some teachers had alleged irregularities in the management of the college. By creating such a situation, they started demanding extortion from him. In this regard, Mostafizur Rahman, one of the elder brothers of lecturer Maksud Rahman Tuhin emphasized that lecturer Maksudur Rahman Tuhin , with a strong morality, has never been involved and found in such unexpected activists. He also condemned the people for labeling his brother a political affiliate of the ruling party. But he stressed that action over Selim Ahmed was not rightful course. After the incident, he was admitted to Bhola Sadar Hospital in a bloody state. A complaint has been filed with the local police station regarding the incident. The administration has issued orders to take steps against the accused.
